October is Careers in Construction Month, so to celebrate we are shining the spotlight on a member of our team each week.
This week’s team member under the spotlight is Bricklayer Apprentice, Dan Matthews (pictured). Having started his apprenticeship with Shropshire Homes two months ago, Dan is fairly new to the company and bricklaying trade.
Undertaking his apprenticeship through Shrewsbury College whilst obtaining practical experience at Shropshire Homes, Dan is particularly grateful for his friendly mentors who are always on hand to help and explain, “I am learning all aspects of the trade from my experienced mentors and building up the skills they continue to teach me.”
On asking Dan what drew him to the construction industry, and what he enjoys most about it, he said “I always wanted to pursue a career which was practical and I enjoy seeing what I have built at the end of the day.”
He added “I think it’s a great path to go down as the country needs skilled tradesmen and you meet great people along the way.”
In the future Dan would like to continue developing his skills in the bricklaying trade to ensure he is working at the highest standard.
A huge thank you to Dan for chatting to our marketing team, wishing him the best of luck in his apprenticeship and career at Shropshire Homes!
