Recently, we visited Julie & Martin in their lovely Fenton at Crudgington Fields, to see how they’ve been enjoying their new home!
Julie & Martin were our final completion at this popular development - with construction beginning in 2021 following the demolition of the old Dairy Crest Creamery in 2015, 173 lovely new homes were constructed across two phases, creating a beautiful community on the disused brownfield site. Julie & Martin moved into their Fenton in February 2026, and have been loving their time at Crudgington Fields so far.
Previously living in Birmingham, Julie & Martin looked for homes in a range of areas around the West Midlands, but kept being drawn back to Shropshire to search for their dream home. Finding our Fenton at Crudgington Fields online, they booked an appointment with our Sales Team to view, and were so impressed with the home itself; “We just loved the whole build, compared to other builders in the area there was so much attention to detail and little things others didn’t think of.”
Speaking on their customer journey, Julie & Martin actually had a fairly stressful experience, due to losing their buyer and worrying that they might lose their dream home in Crudgington. Despite this, they said “The patience of Shropshire Homes it’s got to be said was second to none, our Sales Executives Maggie, and Jean originally, were fantastic. Everyone was rooting for us to get the house, it’s a special part of the service. It’s refreshing because it felt like they really did care, we weren’t just a number.”
When discussing their favourite parts of the homes, Julie particularly loves the size of the rooms, especially the utility room off their beautiful kitchen, and the fourth bedroom, as it means all three of their granddaughters can have their own room when they come to stay.
Martin was especially impressed with the quality and standard specification of the home; “the house and the build is so impressive, everything has been thought of down to little things like the amount of sockets you get in a room, things you would never get as standard from another builder. The use of traditional materials and traditional build is so impressive, it’s the little details that make the difference.”
As well as the quality, Julie & Martin love their home for its location; “we still work in the centre of Birmingham, it’s so easy to commute from here and it’s so lovely to come back to the green countryside, it’s like another world. We keep describing this place as our holiday home!”
When asked the all-important question of whether they would recommend Shropshire Homes to friends & family, Julie & Martin replied, “We don’t need to because the evidence speaks for itself, people come and see the house and they’re so impressed. We absolutely would buy again ourselves; we’d be hard pressed to find another builder with the same qualities. It’s the whole package not just the selling, the aftercare, the responsiveness of customer care, being signposted to management company.”
