Partnering with NHBC to ensure quality

20th March, 2020

Shropshire Homes has always taken immense pride in its longstanding reputation for designing and building properties that meet the highest standards of quality.

One of the ways it has maintained this reputation is through a policy of recruiting and training the very best in the construction industry - professionals who demand the very best from themselves and colleagues.

In addition to the talented team, Shropshire Homes has also cemented its reputation through a close partnership with the NHBC, which is the UK’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes.

The NHBC gives homeowners confidence in the quality of new homes through inspection services, guidance and training to housebuilders like Shropshire Homes.

Two examples of Shropshire Homes and the NHBC working together are at the prestigious developments at Leighton Park, in Shrewsbury, and Bratton Grange, in Telford.

At Leighton Park, the housebuilder is undertaking a delicate redevelopment and renovation project to transform a derelict former Victorian hospital into luxury apartments and houses.

As part of the construction, Shropshire Homes wanted to use some of the original materials and features, like stone copings, parapets and slate. By engaging with NHBC very early in the build process, its team was able to review the risk of using existing materials. The NHBC was also able to advise the site team on the effective planning and delivery of the project with regards to build quality, as well as offering further technical advice when needed.

Meanwhile, at Bratton Grange, in the village of Bratton, Shropshire Homes is creating a collection of executive houses. The development will feature five different house types, each thoughtfully designed to complement the locality and combine 21st century technology with the elegance of a bygone era.

This site is due to undergo a Construction Quality Review, which is a process developed by NHBC to help housebuilders achieve high levels of quality during the construction process.
