PROPOSED CHANGES TO EPC RULES FOR LANDLORDS

EPC
31st August, 2023

WHATS CHANGING?

If you are a landlord you may be aware of the new minimum EPC proposals outlined by the government drafted as part of their target of achieving Net Zero by 2050*!

It is suggested that by 2025 landlords will need to meet a minimum energy performance rating of C for all new tenancies.

By 2028, all existing tenancies will also have to meet this minimum energy performance!

THE PITFALLS

With two thirds of homes failing to meet this target, improving your EPC can be costly! Breaching this new requirement can potentially be financially detrimental with fines due to be raised to £30,000 by 2025!

With the costs to upgrade outweighing the benefits, many landlords may be looking to sell; thus, reducing stock further and driving demand.
