Last week, Shropshire’s County Town, Shrewsbury, was named one of the best places to live in the Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.

The Sunday Times judges visited 72 locations and assessed factors from schools to transport, broadband speeds and mobile signal to amenities, as well as access to high-quality green spaces and the health of the high street. The judges also spoke to locals to find out what they love about Shrewsbury, and one thing all the visited locations had in common is that the people were proud to call it their home.
Shrewsbury was also named one of the top places to live in 2025 by The Times and labelled one of the top three happiest places to live in the Midlands in 2025 by The Guardian.
