On Saturday, a team from Shropshire Homes competed in the Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Race.
The Severn Hospice are a wonderful charitable organisation that provide care and support for 3,000 families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin who are living with an incurable disease. The Severn Hospice is funded through kind donations and each day they spend £23,241 supporting families, making fundraising vital to the service.

The Dragon Boat Race was organised and ran by Severn Hospice team and volunteers, with a total of 24 teams competing. Each team was provided with their own gazebo and once everyone had arrived in their colourful fancy dress, two teams at a time were called up for a safety briefing and their first race. Every team competed in three timed races and the fastest time of all three races was used to decide the four finalists.
The fastest race for the Shropshire Homes team was their third race with a time of 1 minute 21.58 seconds, putting them in 14th place overall. There had to be one winner and that was Telford Electronic’s ‘Christian’s Crusaders’ – a huge well done to them!
However, the most important part of the day was raising funds for the Severn Hospice and, through sponsorship, Shropshire Homes have raised a total of £3,640. A massive thank you to all who sponsored us, we are very grateful. If you haven’t sponsored us yet and would like to, there is still time to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shropshire-homes
