Shropshire Homes Event Raises £1,500 for the Lighthouse Club

QUIZ
30th October, 2023

Sadly, every single working day in the UK two construction workers take their own life, and in 2022 more people than ever before reached out to the Lighthouse Charity for help and support, a 23% increase on the previous year.Charity

On Friday night, Shropshire Homes organised a charity quiz, raffle and auction to fundraise for the Lighthouse Charity, a cause dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families, raising an impressive total of £1,500.

The event, held at Darwin Community Centre and hosted by Sales & Marketing Director, Helen Pritchard, and Marketing Executive, Rebecca Hayward, commenced with a quiz, where participants put on their thinking caps, contributing £5 per head to the charity fund. A total of 10 teams battled wits, creating an atmosphere of friendly competition (some more competitive than others!).

Following the quiz, Managing Director, Richard Shackleton conducted an auction, which included signed STFC away shirts from this season, a signed home shirt from the previous season, and a one-night stay at the charming Clemetine Retreat in Ludlow.

To finish the evening, quiz winners were announced, with All Pump Solutions coming first place, Ellesmere Site in second place, and Shropshire Homes’ Land team, and the MD’s team in joint third place. Followed by the raffle tickets being drawn at random.

Shropshire Homes would like to thank those who contributed to the raffle and auction, including the Ragleth Inn at Little Stretton, offering a £50 voucher, and The Pound Inn at Leebotwood, extending their own £50 voucher. Fitness enthusiasts found a reason to rejoice with Alpha Athletics, who donated a one-month free membership and two personal training sessions. The Battlefield Farm Shop Hamper added a delightful touch, and the Nags Head at Pontesbury sweetened the deal with a £50 meal voucher. Lakeside Garden Centre joined the cause by contributing a beautiful planter.

A special thank you goes out to all the attendees, participants, and the generous businesses that made this event possible!
