Liam Frith, Site Manager at Shropshire Homes, recently received the news that he had won Best Residential Site Manager 2022 for the West Midlands region. The award was based on Liam’s exceptional site management at Home Farm, accompanied by the site and design teams who made the development at Preston so outstanding.

To celebrate Liam’s success, we discussed the award and Liam’s career at Shropshire Homes…

Having started at Shropshire Homes over 15 years ago as a subcontract bricklayer, Liam has progressed significantly over this time, becoming Assistant Site Manager and being promoted to Site Manager over 9 years ago.

On asking Liam what he likes about working at Shropshire Homes, he said “It’s such a professional but caring environment to work in. The Directors have got the balance just right”.

The Best Residential Site Manager award was judged and regulated by LABC and involved an inspection throughout each stage of the development. Liam’s site, Home Farm, was inspected by Nikki Corfield, who Liam found helpful and knowledgeable throughout.

Liam is no stranger to winning LABC awards as he was part of the team who won ‘Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion’ in 2019 for the conversion of St George’s Mansions in Stafford – long may the awards keep coming is all we can say!

Liam puts his success down to his experience, hard work and high standards. He also gave special thanks and recognition to Assistant Site Manager, Kev Harding for his technical knowledge, Sales Executive, Maggie Hadley for her valuable input and customer service and Construction Director, Gerald Rogers for steering everyone in the right direction.

We asked how he felt when he first heard the news that he’d won the award, he said “Very happy, proud and thankful to Shropshire Homes for letting me do my job properly”.  The first person he told was his partner, Tracy.

Managing Director, Richard Shackleton commended Liam and his team for an exceptional result, “A massive congratulations to Liam on winning the Best Residential Site Manager for the West Midlands region, an amazing result, well deserved for the excellent development out at Preston on the Weald Moors and great recognition, not only for Liam, but the site team and everyone in the office here at Shropshire Homes”.

So, what’s next in the award process? Liam and a team from Shropshire Homes will be attending the Grand Final of the LABC Awards on 27th January where all regional winners are shortlisted for the overall UK winner in their category.

A huge well done to Liam and the team at Shropshire Homes, and good luck in the Grand Finals!
