Shropshire Homes Sponsor Charity Football Match in Memory of 16-year-old Kean Hall

This Sunday, Emma Rogers and her Son, Adam, will be hosting a charity football match in memory of Emma’s nephew, Kean Hall.

Kean was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer when he was just 4 years old. During Kean’s treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, his mum Vicky, stepdad Craig and brother Lucas were grateful to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham, which was an enormous help as they were able to be close by to Kean and did not have to take the long journey back and forth from Church Stretton.

The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need, and provides a free place for families to stay so that they are nearby their child.

Emma Rogers, Kean’s Auntie, said “It was an incredibly traumatic time for the whole family. We knew Kean was in the best place but he needed lengthy treatment, and it was so far away from home.

“Staying at the Ronald McDonald House meant that the family could be close to Kean and didn’t have to worry about paying for expensive hotels and travel costs”.

Devastatingly, Kean passed away in September 2022 at the age of just 16 years old.

Kean was an avid football fan and a big supporter of Shrewsbury Town Football Club. In memory of Kean, his family plan to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House by organising a charity football match, as well as refreshments, teddy stall, bouncy castle and a raffle at Russell’s Meadow in Church Stretton on Sunday 5th May from 10am onwards.

To help fundraise for the event, Shropshire Homes have sponsored the football team’s shirts (pictured). Shropshire Homes' Trainee Design & Planning Technician, Luke Mason, will also be taking part in the match in the Only Halls and Horses team.

There will also be live music, an auction and disco to follow at the Kings Arms.

All are welcome on the day, if you would like to attend (details below). If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please visit: https://www.justgiving.com/page/emma-rogers-1711571905799
