Wednesday 4th February is World Cancer Day, a day that aims to raise worldwide awareness and inspire action towards a cancer-free future.
One of Shropshire Homes’ chosen charities for 2026 is Lingen Davies, who do incredible work throughout Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales supporting those affected by cancer.
One of their largest current campaigns is the Sunflower Appeal, a £5 million appeal to grow cancer care across the region through the creation of a Lingen Davies Chemotherapy Centre in the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
This will double the provision of chemotherapy across the region – currently, all cancer patients in the area are sent to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for their treatment. Expansion into the Princess Royal would mean those living closer to Telford will have access to care closer to home, thus freeing up capacity at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and reducing wait times and stress for everyone.
Lingen Davies are aiming to open the new Cancer Centre in 2029, and with an incredible £330,000 raised so far, the campaign is well underway!
