Having recently finished her studies at Shrewsbury College, including a T-level course where she completed 315 hours at Shropshire Homes, Shayma Bensaad has decided to stay on at the company, moving to the role of Trainee Sales Executive.

Beginning her Shropshire Homes journey in June 2024, Shayma was originally a work experience student, spending three weeks rotating through various departments, including Technical, Commercial, Accounts and Sales. Following this, she returned in September 2024 to complete her T-level placement hours – T-Levels offered by Shrewsbury Colleges Group (SCG) are developed alongside employers to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need for a career in the world of business such as administration, management, and communication skills.

Shayma worked for Shropshire Homes one day a week alongside her college studies and enjoyed being able to combine education with work experience, saying “The exposure I had to different departments showed me the range of opportunities available, and it became clear that Shropshire Homes was a place where I could continue to grow and build a long-term career.”

Following the completion of her college studies, Shayma moved on to work full-time as an Administrator, focusing on sales and reception responsibilities, before deciding to take the leap into becoming a Trainee Sales Executive.

When asked what drew her to the world of Sales, Shayma said “I've always had a natural interest in property and customer interaction, and the role of a Sales Executive brings both of those together. I was drawn to the idea of helping people find their homes - it's a big decision for most, and being part of that process is something I find really rewarding.

So far, Shayma has been spending the majority of her time with Senior Sales Executive, Maggie, and Sales Executive, Ruth, and has been really enjoying her experience; “It's a role that constantly keeps me engaged, as no two days are the same and each customer interaction is different. The role has helped me strengthen my communication, organisation, and customer service skills, and it's confirmed that this is a path I'm genuinely passionate about pursuing.”

So what’s next for Shayma? She’ll be undertaking the responsibility of managing Forest Edge at Loggerheads on her own during the next few weekends, a brilliant achievement considering she is less than a month into her journey as a Trainee Sales Executive!

Beginning her studies at the University of Birmingham in September, Shayma looks forward to gaining a degree in Business Management, and eventually managing her own site as a Sales Executive. She told us I see Shropshire Homes as a great place to achieve that, purely because of the encouragement and guidance I receive from those I work with.”

We can’t wait to see Shayma flourish in the Sales department over the coming months, and wish her all the best at university!
