Looking to move into your dream home? We’ve got 10 Top Tips to help you have a stress-free moving experience!
Purchasing your dream home…
- Use Shropshire Homes’ panel solicitors
- Our recommended solicitors know our developments well, and will be able to raise enquiries and get searches back quickly, meaning it can be faster to get your dream home completed.
- Use Shropshire Homes’ Financial Advisors
- While most financial advisors charge for their services, you can get FREE financial advice from our team of experts under no obligation, and their ‘Mortgage Rate Checker’ service ensures that you are on the best mortgage rate for you - they even have exclusive access to new build deals! They’ll also let you switch to a better mortgage rate if one comes along after you’ve secured yours.
- Take advantage of our Buying Schemes
- We have a number of buying schemes available to take the stress out of purchasing your dream home, whether it’s boosting your deposit or mortgage, or helping you to sell your current home! Speak to your Sales Executive for a full breakdown of our schemes and your eligibility.
- Choose your perfect finishes from our Personal Touches Brochure
- Our Personal Touches Brochure allows you to truly make our house your home, with your choice of tiles, appliances, lighting, worktops, flooring and so much more!
Once you have your new home all set, it’s time to start thinking about your move…
- Pick your removals company
- There are different removal options depending on your needs, from a full packing service to a simple removal once you’ve packed your own belongings.
- Make a moving checklist
- It’s not just about the packing! There’s plenty of things that need to be done when you move, such as informing your bank, insurance providers and other companies, sorting out your utilities – you can also set up a Royal Mail Redirect for 3, 6 or 12 months to ensure your post is sent to your new address. Having everything in one easy checklist means you haven’t got to remember what you’ve still got left to take care of.
- Declutter your home in advance
- Moving house is the perfect time to get rid of things you don’t use anymore – create separate piles of things that can be donated and clutter that can be cleared away.
- Make a packing plan – and start packing early
- Breaking packing down into smaller parts and doing a little at a time makes the task much less daunting, and means you won’t be stressing about doing it all a few days before you move. Organising your boxes by room will also make it much easier to unpack once you’re in your new house, and you can even pack an essentials box with the most important things you’ll need once you’re there.
- Make sure your paperwork is in order and you are communicating with your solicitors and Sales Executive
- Communication is key! Our Sales Executives are on hand to help with any questions or concerns you may have, and will be able to speak to your solicitors and estate agents if necessary to ensure everything is moving smoothly.
- Have a moving day plan
- Preparing a timeline in advance will help you limit your stress; set a time with your removals company and give yourself the chance to have a full walkthrough of your old home once it’s empty, to ensure you’ve left nothing behind. Have a plan of which things need to be unpacked first – don’t leave making your bed until the end of the night!

We’ve just moved into our new home at Oakmere Ridge in Ellesmere, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Everyone we dealt with at Shropshire Homes was friendly and helpful throughout the process. A special mention to Sarah from the Sales Office, she was fantastic! She guided us every step of the way, was always quick to respond to our questions, and kept us updated with regular calls, which really helped ease a lot of the stress. – Happy Homeowner at Oakmere Ridge, Ellesmere
We are currently buying our second Shropshire Homes house and couldn’t fault the process on either occasion! We are currently dealing with Maggie our sales exec and she has been great, keeping us in the loop throughout. The process both times over has been seamless and as straightforward as buying a house could be! – Happy Homeowner at Farriers Gate, Telford
