Work experience is a valuable opportunity for young students to gain insight into potential career paths and discover their passions. Shropshire Homes recently welcomed several Year 10 students for work experience, providing them with a diverse and immersive learning experience. Over the course of a few weeks, these students explored different departments.
Jack Evason, Rob Perrins, Adam Routley
Lola Dinsmore, an ambitious student, spent two weeks at Shropshire Homes, dividing her time between the technical and marketing departments. Her experience proved to be enlightening, as she got to witness the intricate process of planning and marketing construction projects. With a clearer understanding of the industry, Lola expressed gratitude to Shropshire Homes for helping her shape her career goals, “My two weeks work experience has helped me understand more about the construction industry and given me an insight into what I’d like to do in future. Thank you to Shropshire Homes for giving me the opportunity”.
Jack, another diligent student, also delved into the technical and design realms during his one-week work experience. With his Dad working in the construction industry as a Site Manager, Jack has aspirations to also join the sector.
Darragh, an aspiring electrician, spent a week in the commercial department and expressed a desire to work on-site after completing his education. His time at Shropshire Homes has reinforced his goal to work on construction sites, focussing on his ambition to become an electrician. In addition, Shropshire Homes welcomed Adam. With a family background in construction, Adam joined the Quantity Surveying team for a week.
Health & Safety is a crucial aspect of any construction project, and Harvey's two-week stint in the Health & Safety department furthered his interest in the construction industry. As he now contemplates a potential career in construction, Harvey appreciates the invaluable insights gained from his time at Shropshire Homes.
