National Apprenticeship Week is 6th-12th February. The week aims to bring together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

At Shropshire Homes, we have a group of apprentices based on our developments – some of whom have won awards, received distinctions and made successful careers out of their trade. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we chatted to Josh Trow who is currently based at Ledwyche Rise.

Josh started his Level 2 Apprenticeship in Carpentry at Shropshire Homes in August 2022, following the completion of his GCSEs. Since starting, Josh has worked across three of our developments, including Orleton Fields, Woodhouse Farm and Ledwyche Rise. This has given Josh an array of experience, working on various projects, house types and designs and with different people.

On asking Josh what he likes about carpentry, he said “I like the different type of work. I have recently been working on kitchen fittings, and will soon be working on roofs”. In the future, Josh’s goal is to become a qualified carpenter and believes his experience at Shropshire Homes and one day a week at college will give him the confidence and knowledge to do this.

It is truly rewarding for the team at Shropshire Homes to see the progress our apprentices make. A huge well done to Josh – keep up the good work!
