Shropshire Homes Donate Defibrillator to Priorslee Community
On Thursday 2nd March, Shropshire Homes IT Manager, Jon Sharrock met with Steve from Lakeside Garden Centre and local resident and pillar of the community, Paul Thomas, to donate a defibrillator to Priorslee community.
Some of you may remember from a previous article (https://www.shropshire-homes.com/news/jon-sharrock-raises-ps767225-midlands-air-ambulance-and-wins-local-award) that Jon Sharrock runs a group called Shifnal Shockers, who fundraise for defibrillators in Shifnal. This makes Jon the perfect Shropshire Homes team member to take on the role of handing over the defibrillator, maintaining it and providing training to residents.
Paul Thomas, Local Resident commented “Our first defibrillator, located in East Priorslee, kindly donated by Shropshire Homes and installed by Steve and Cathy Evans at Lakeside Plant Centre. Jon Sharrock, Shropshire Homes, has also offered to maintain the unit whilst they are on site and provide a training day for residents. This is a wonderful asset to our community thanks to Shropshire Homes and to Lakeside for making it happen”.
Steve, owner of Lakeside Garden Centre, has kindly offered to store the defib on the exterior wall of the Garden Centre. Should the local community require use of it, the ambulance service will provide the code during the 999 call.
Richard Shackleton, Managing Director at Shropshire Homes, said “We are proud to be able to support Priorslee by donating a defibrillator to the local community. Although, of course, we hope it does not need to be used, it could save lives if it does. Thank you to Jon for liaising with Steve from Lakeside Garden Centre and local resident Paul to make this happen”.
The donation of the defibrillator is part of a new initiative by Shropshire Homes and will be implemented by Jon Sharrock, prior to completion, across all developments going forward. Shropshire Homes have also recently donated a defibrillator to Cross Houses village where their Head Office is located.
