Shropshire Homes recently started a work-experience placement for Shrewsbury College’s T-Level student, Shayma.

Shayma’s T-level in Business Management and Administration, which achieves the equivalent of three A levels, requires 315 hours of work experience over the two-year course. So far, Shayma has undertaken 190 hours, including a three-week block placement at Shropshire Homes, and will complete the remaining duration at Shropshire Homes, working one day a week for a year.

Having already completed a three-week block placement, Shayma is pleased to have been offered a work experience position at Shropshire Homes, “I really like working at Shropshire Homes, I like the industry and people in the business.”

Shayma also commented on the benefits of a T-level, “I chose a T-level as it allows me to combine education with work experience so I’m getting the best of both worlds.”

Supporting women in construction, Helen Pritchard, Sales & Marketing Director at Shropshire Homes is a big believer in setting an example for the younger generations, “Construction has historically been a male dominated industry, but this is changing and it is important that we encourage young women like Shayma to join the industry.”

Shropshire Homes look forward to supporting Shayma along her work experience journey, and, all being well, offering her a trainee position once she completes her course.
